Job Description:   **RN Peri-Operative Endoscopy Qualified - FT, Days** **Description** Pay Scale: $33.50 - $51.25 **Shift:** 4, 10 hour shifts. Includes weeknight, weekend & holiday call. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Surgical Services Manager, the Peri-Operative Registered Nurse performs duties by applying professional nursing theory and principles, and utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team in providing patient care. Demonstrates clinical, organizational and communication skills in dealing with patients, families and other health care workers. Will cross train to the other Perioperative departments and work as needed after completion of standard orientation. Requires on-call with a maximum response time of 30 minutes from notification. Essential Duties: + Provides specialized nursing care to patients within the Surgical Services departments. + Observes, collects, analyzes, and records data related to patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, and self-care ability, including evaluation of respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, cardiac rate and rhythm, end tidal CO2, and the patient’s level of consciousness. + Analyzes assessment data to formulate a nursing diagnosis and to provide the basis for planning timely and effective nursing care interventions. + Implements an age appropriate plan of care in conjunction with the physician, patient, patient’s family, and/or significant other, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. + Identifies the learning needs of the patient and/or significant others, and initiates measures to meet those needs within the patient’s assessed learning abilities. Completes documentation related to teaching intervention, progress, outcomes and discharge planning needs in a timely manner. + Ensures that the delivery of patient care reflects efficient and effective utilization of resources (multidisciplinary). + Communicates significant data to appropriate persons throughout the patient’s surgical care experience. Communicates pertinent information to family/significant others as appropriate. + Administers medication according to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety. + Acquires necessary documents to fulfill perioperative chart requirements. + Facilitates flow of patients through the Surgical Services Department. + Administers and assesses the total patient care requirements before and during the administration of sedation for minimal, moderate, and deep sedation. + Demonstrates principles of care relating to phase 1-3 Recovery. + Provides for and follows precautions to ensure patient safety related to National Patient Safety Goals. Utilizes universal precautions in performing daily work. + Utilizes safety equipment in accordance with hospital policies to ensure own and co-workers’ safety needs. Ensures that equipment is available, in proper place, and maintained in working condition. **Qualifications** License/Certification: + Current RN license issued by the State of Oregon. + Must have current BLS and ACLS. Experience: + Previous Day Surgery experience including endoscopy with documented competency within the past 6 months is required. + Nurse administered propofol during endoscopies experience preferred.
