Pay Scale : For salary information please contact Human Resources at 541-677-2475 Shift: Days Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, the Home Health/Hospice Director assumes administrative responsibility for all functions in the Home Health and Hospice departments and is responsible for planning and directing operations to ensure the provision of appropriate care and services. The Director’s management skills provide for the technical operation of the departments in the areas of staffing, budgeting, cost effectiveness and integration into hospital-wide functioning. Responsible for developing and implementing strategic goals relating to patient care improvement and staff growth and development. Responsible for development of new programs to meet the needs of the community. Essential Duties: + Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates operations of HH/Hospice to ensure provision of adequate and appropriate care and services. + Develops and implements Home Health and Hospice strategic goals and objectives to meet the needs of the departments as well as those of Mercy Medical Center. + Oversees and monitors patient care services delivered. Develops and monitors ongoing quality improvement mechanisms to ensure quality of patient care in all care settings. + Assesses customer satisfaction surveys and Press Ganey results. Implements plan to improve and reevaluates as necessary. + Responsible for fiscal planning, budgeting and management of operations in accordance with established fiscal parameters. Meets or exceeds budgeted revenue. + Responsible for the selection, training/orientation, competency and ongoing performance appraisals of staff. Provides coaching and development opportunities for staff to reach their potential. Counsels and provides progressive discipline when needed. + Collaborates with the HH/Hospice Marketing staff to develop and implement plans for increasing program referrals. + Provides interpretation, resource information, supervision and consultation for the home health and hospice staff. Understands and interprets agency policies and procedures to staff, physicians and other agencies. + Assures department and personnel compliance with all state and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, contracts and Mercy Medical Center’s mission, philosophy, policies and procedures. + Ensures compliance with all Home Health and Hospice documentation and recordkeeping requirements. + Establishes an organizational structure and organizes daily administrative functions. Reevaluates the structure as necessary. + Develops, implements and regularly evaluates the policies and procedures for the Home Health and Hospice programs. + Prepares annual departmental evaluation in cooperation with Mercy Medical Center Administration and Advisory Committees. Annually presents the departmental evaluation to the Advisory Committee and Mercy Medical Center Administration. + Keeps the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, the Advisory Board, and the Medical Director informed of program operations. **Qualifications** License/Certification: + Current Oregon RN license required. Experience: + Three (3) years management experience, two (2) years Home Health/Hospice experience and one (1) year operations and finance experience required. + Thorough knowledge of the home health and hospice regulations and requirements required. + Ability to produce high quality care and desired financial outcomes required. + Must possess well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal. + Strong organizational and time management skills as well as a close attention to detail required. + Must possess the ability to communicate and implement home health and hospice philosophy to staff, physicians and community. + Ability to manage professional staff and act as liaison with other care providers and/or settings required. + Must possess strong personal computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Products (word, excel). Education: + Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care administration, business management or related field required.
