Job Description:

Medical Research is a broad category that covers many jobs not directly involving patient care:

  • Large hospitals, universities, and dedicated research institutions employ healthcare personnel for health, disease and treatment research

  • MD’s, PhD’s, RN's and graduate students conduct research

  • Laboratory personnel conduct tests

  • Nurses, coordinators and managers organize and carry out clinical trials

  • Statisticians interpret results

  • Grant writers obtain funding

Pathology

  • Forensic examiners investigate the cause of death and gather evidence for legal investigations.

Epidemiology

  • Data gathered from population studies is used not only in research, but also to guide decision-making for healthcare providers and government agencies.
