Clinical: Renal Dialysis and Nephrology - Career Choices

 

Job Description:

Dialysis Technicians operate dialysis machines that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys no longer function. They work under the supervision of physicians or nurses. Job responsibilities may include:

  • Receiving patients into treatment area, weighing them, taking their temperature and blood pressure

  • Maintaining strict safety precautions against blood-borne diseases

  • Instructing patients about their care and treatment

  • Monitoring patients during the dialysis process

  • Cleaning, sterilization, and operation of dialysis equipment
