Clinical: Radiation Therapy - Career Choices

 

Job Description:

Radiation Therapy is the treatment of cancer and other disorders with high-energy beams and radioactive substances. It is not to be confused with Radiology, which uses similar technology to create images of structures inside the body for diagnosis of injury and disease:

Dosimetrist

  • Calculates the dose of radiation and treatment plan that can destroy tumors while sparing normal tissues. Works under the supervision of the Medical Radiation Physicist.

Medical Radiation Physicist

  • Has the knowledge and responsibility for the equipment and substances used in radiation treatment. Supervises the Dosimetrists.

Radiation Therapist

  • Administers radiation treatment to the patient under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist.

Radiation Oncologist
