Dentist: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental
Medicine (DMD)

Examine, diagnose
and treat patients who have diseases, injuries, or
malformations of the teeth, gums and mouth. Instructs patients
about good oral health practices to prevent gum disease and
tooth loss.

Dentists may take
additional training and specialize in Endodontia, Oral
Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics,
Pediatrics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics.
